Sonja Morgan is a media and TV personality who starred on Bravo TV’s The Real Housewives of New York City, as well as a producer, comedienne, entrepreneur and fashion designer.

We spoke with Sonja during a recent stay at The DWIGHT D.

Tell us what design means to you and where you find inspiration?
Design for me is to create comfort while providing an aesthetic that combines color and nature. My inspiration comes from the world and all the different places, people and cultures I experience.

Can you tell us a little about your background and what you are doing now?

I have always loved the visual and performing arts and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC.  Currently I’m on tour nationwide with Sonja In Your City, my live improv comedy show.  In June I have a new comedy show premiering on Bravo TV-it’s a spin-off of my antics on The Real Housewives of NYC where I spent 12 years.  Countess Luann de Lesseps and I go to Southern Illinois for some do-goodery for the community. The shenanigans never end with us.

Congrats! Tell us more about your current projects
Besides touring and working on TV projects I’m expanding my shoe line, Sonja by Sonja Morgan. Also, Sonja Sangria went international and is now available nationwide and in Canada..

Word on the street is “you’re a big fan of Philadelphia”. Tell us about your ideal weekend here!
Philadelphia has become home away from home for me.  It’s easy to get to and it’s so me.  A cross between metropolitan-edgy NYC and the warmth of Europe. My daughter just graduated summa cum laude from UPenn so Philadelphia will always be in my heart. I made so many wonderful friends here..

Tell us about your experience staying at The DWIGHT D Hotel from the perspective of a tastemaker who’s traveled extensively?
I feel at home at the Dwight D. My family who recently stayed with me said it’s like being at my home in NYC. I love spending time in the garden with a cup of tea-so tranquil. The rooms are world-class which is due very much to the care and exquisite taste of Vittoria and Ken. I’ve experienced some of the best hotels in my life and The Dwight D Hotel is at the top of my list of destinations I love. Also the entertainment space downstairs that leads directly to the garden is unparalleled in Philadelphia for one-of-a kind experiences.
